Komatsu unveils All-Electric Loader powered by Moog Construction at bauma 2022
Vlogger Peter Haddock from Earth Movers takes a deep dive into Komatsu’s all electric wheel loader prototype, powered by Moog Construction.
At Bauma 2022, Peter Haddock witnessed the removal of hydraulic fluids and diesel in the Komatsu Europe demonstration arena with expert Michael Wadsack.
Key highlights of the new machine include:
-
- Proven wheel loader design from Komatsu
- All Electric and already in field testing
- Super quiet
- Integrated Moog control system connects and coordinates actions across the machine
- All-electric actuators and motors provide force to the machine’s traction and loading system
- Electric traction motor
- Lift, tilt and steering electric cylinders
- Onboard Battery and management system
This is a prototype, so the size of the battery and therefore charging times etc, will be announced when the final design is confirmed, and it goes into production.
At the press launch, Komatsu’s Seiichi Fuchita Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and President of the Development Division, said: “The machine, built together with Moog, combines the strengths of both companies and was finalized within a short period of time. We expect the joint testing will show the advantages of a fully electric machine and will prove collaboration is beneficial for both sides.”
Moog’s Joe Alfieri, vice president and general manager for its construction business unit, added: “Our cooperation with Komatsu shows that industry leaders in the construction industry are ready for zero-emission machines, and we are thrilled to collaborate with them to enable their journey with our production-ready electric, connected and automation systems.”
There will certainly be more from Komatsu on this and other innovations to come at CONEXPO-CON/AGG, and Peter will also be there to report on the show.
